Àsìkò Art School 2025 participants in their final presentation at ARD
Holding Memory
The Àsìkò Art School is an itinerant educational programme for artists and curators across Africa, founded in 2010 by the late curator Bisi Silva.
A flagship initiative of the Centre for Contemporary Art (CCA), Lagos, it was designed to address gaps in formal art education by fostering critical thinking, curatorial practice, and conceptual development.

Introducing Ismail Fayed as Artistic Lead
This year marks Àsìkò's first time in an Arabic-speaking country, taking place in Cairo, Egypt from 27 April to 25 May, 2025, hosted by ARD Art Institution. The 2025 edition, held under the theme "Holding Memory", brings together artists and curators for a month-long journey of research, exchange, and collective growth.
The Àsìkò pedagogy emphasises being immersed in the history and culture of each hosting location, with this edition opening up space for the exploration of what it looks like to hold memory in Cairo.
